Back in 2016 childhood friends Alon Ben Joseph and Jonathan Salomon where brainstorming about the future of the world, society and their own destiny. They have decided that they wanted to give back, work together and combine their passion for people and technology.

Mokum is still commonly used as a nickname in the Netherlands for the city of Amsterdam. The nickname was first considered to be Bargoens, a form of Dutch slang, but in the 20th century it lost its negative sound and is now used by Amsterdamers as a nickname for their city in a sentimental context.


As both the founders were born and raised in Amsterdam they immediately agreed on the name Mokum. As they want to make the world a better place by using technology, the name Mokum Tech was born in 2017.
